Preparation

Every patient will receive a set of pre-operative instructions at their consultation to help them properly prepare for their labiaplasty. Instructions may vary between individuals depending on the details of their procedure and their lifestyle habits.

Each patient will need to pre-arrange transportation home after their procedure, in addition to arranging for time away from work and other social commitments to ensure proper healing.

Certain medications and supplements should be temporarily avoided, specifically those containing blood-thinning properties. Those who smoke will need to quit several weeks in advance, ceasing any nicotine consumption until fully recovered. Alcohol should also be avoided a few days before and after the procedure.

Procedure

Each patient’s labiaplasty will begin with the cleansing and sanitization of their skin before local anesthesia, with or without sedation, is administered. During the procedure, the surgeon will carefully remove excess tissue to create a more symmetrical, pleasing appearance. There are two techniques that our surgeons can perform to help achieve the desired results: the trim technique and the wedge technique.

The surgeon can employ other techniques throughout the procedure, such as a clitoral hood reduction or labia majora reduction, to help each patient achieve their ideal aesthetic. The duration of a labiaplasty is shorter compared to other treatments, often lasting approximately 1-2 hours in duration.

Recovery

Labiaplasties are typically performed on an outpatient basis, meaning the patient can return home on the same day as their procedure. It is common to experience bruising, swelling, or soreness in the treatment area, but these effects may be managed through the use of pain medications under the guidance of our team and often subside within the first week of healing.

Patients often return to work within 1-2 weeks but should refrain from physical activity, heavy lifting, and other strenuous tasks for several weeks.
